Frameless costs more in preparation than in glass

A frameless screen needs a level, square opening and a substrate that can take the fixings. Where the wall is out of plumb, the labour to correct it is the real cost difference.

Mirrors and the fixing behind them

A large mirror is heavy and its fixing depends on what is behind the tile. HDB caps ramsets, nails and screws at 6mm diameter and 40mm penetration in flats, so the fixing method has to be planned rather than improvised on the day.

Where mirrors help and where they just reflect clutter

A mirror opposite a window borrows daylight; a mirror opposite a kitchen doubles the visual mess. Position is a design decision with a real effect on how large a small flat feels.
