The curtain recess is a ceiling decision
A curtain track recessed into the false ceiling reads far cleaner than a surface-mounted one, but the recess has to be designed into the ceiling before it is boarded. Deciding curtains after handover means a surface track.
Blackout is about heat as well as light
On a west-facing elevation the afternoon heat load matters as much as the light. A blackout layer that sits tight to the wall blocks the light leak that a loosely hung one does not.
Day curtain, night curtain, or both
The common Singapore arrangement is a sheer day curtain for privacy with light, plus a heavier night curtain. Both need track depth, which is another reason the recess width is set early.
Blinds where curtains do not work
Kitchens, service yards and bathrooms suit blinds because fabric near cooking and moisture is a maintenance problem rather than a style one.
